In this role as Senior Actuary FP&A, you will support the Head of FP&A to deliver an effective planning and projection function by providing actuarial knowledge and insight, producing best in class analysis and reporting and developing strong relationships across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivering an effective planning and projection process by applying actuarial knowledge and producing best in class analysis and reports to understand performance, risks and opportunities.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with the Chief Actuary and relevant actuarial reporting functions in both RAL CFO and GFC.
  • Explaining complex actuarial concepts in terms that are easy to understand for non-actuaries working in the Group Financial Controller’s team.
  • Ensuring that the actuarial impacts are clearly understood and reflected in all the outputs from FP&A, such as in Flash and Quarterly Projections, the annual business plan and Board MI.
  • Taking a lead role in managing the delivery of actuarial Flash and Quarterly Projections, the annual business plan and Board MI, resolving conflicts over priorities and resources and providing hands on assistance, where required
  • Acting as a representative for FP&A across the Finance and Chief Actuary functions, ensuring priorities, functional developments, and risks are understood and supported amongst relevant stakeholders.

Key skills/experience required

  • Fully qualified Actuary with 5 years of PQE
  • Proven experience of regulatory reporting (IFRS and Solvency II)
  • A good understanding of financial reporting
  • Strong experience in writing and presenting reports to the Board and for external consumption
  • Strong experience responding to Regulatory and audit requests and interacting with regulators and auditors
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting on internal metrics and on a statutory basis
  • Ability to explain complex actuarial concepts in easy to understand terms for non-actuaries.
  • Ability to drive change and work at pace in an ambiguous, high growth environment, staying calm and resilient under pressure.
  • Ability to review and develop complex actuarial models
  • Strong and flexible influencing skills required for engagement with all types of stakeholder.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to articulate and guide teams and other parts of the business on technical/complex concepts in a straightforward and unambiguous manner, and to produce and present reporting to Board standard.
  • Ability to inspire and mobilise others to give their best and exceed expectations.
