Job summary

ReAssure are looking to recruit a dedicated Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our team within the IT function. The position will preferably be based in Telford on a permanent basis.  This vacancy represents an opportunity to join one of Telford’s largest employers, within an ever changing environment where you will discover the potential to perform and grow.

In this role as Senior Oracle DBA you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day delivery of the Oracle Databases estate across ReAssure, ensuring we deliver exceptional customer service at all times. This role will also will be responsible for owning project deliverables and ensuring automation is built in wherever possible. The Senior DBA will need to show excellent problem solving skills and actively contribute to the operational effectiveness of the Application Support function.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure all Oracle Databases are supported to a high standard and incidents, requests and problems are resolved within a timely manner, within agreed SLA’s
  • Contribute to the Change Management process; ensuring that only approved changes are implemented, and with minimal business impact. Ensure that all changes raised by the team have sufficient information to enable stakeholders to make a decision on the change.
  • Seek to Automate tasks wherever possible to improve efficiency and repeatability
  • To ensure pro-active monitoring and fine tuning of existing Oracle databases to improve performance.
  • Mentoring and coaching DBA colleagues

Key skills/experience required

  • Strong technical background in a 3rd Line environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to think analytically and solve problems to complex issues
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
